Accessing one of the most beautiful places in Butte County got a lot easier in April 2020, when BCRCD completed repairs to the Dome Trail which accesses Curtain Falls on the Middle Fork of the Feather River. Amazingly, the stairs and other trail features survived the 2020 North Comple/Bear Fire and remain usable when the forest is safe to visit. Thanks to Butte County's Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) for granting us these funds, thanks to generous local donors Michael Capelle and Jim Hirschinger for donating building supplies, and thanks to the California Conservation Corps for helping us pack them in! Master builders from Casa di Terra crafted the stairs. Forest Trails Alliance donated labor for trail improvements and crossings. And of course, thanks to our great Plumas national Forest-Feather River Ranger District partners for supporting, reviewing and approving all the designs and specs. Now if you're reading this, get out there and explore!
BCRCD specializes in improving water crossings so roads and trails don't discharge sediment into our creeks.
